In 2012, New Jersey’s exports totaled $42.5 billion, which ranks 17th among all states and constitutes an 8.6-percent share of state GDP.  Even so, New Jersey’s exports grew only by 3.4 percent on an annualized basis between 2009 and 2012, below the 11.9 percent experienced as a nation, which might suggest space for improvement and the consideration of more aggressive national and regional models.
